🌾 Growth, Responsibility, and Shared Value: Molino Grassi Presents the 2024 Sustainability Report
A Commitment Spanning Ninety Years
Molino Grassi, a name that for over nine decades has been synonymous with milling tradition and innovation, has officially presented its second Sustainability Report, a fundamental document summarizing the company’s commitment for the year 2024.
This is more than just a report: it is a declaration of intent that confirms our dedication to operating transparently, sharing the achievements made in the environmental, social, and economic spheres, and placing them at the foundation of our long-term development vision.
📈 The Results That Make a Difference: 2024 Key Figures
The data from the 2024 Report speaks clearly, testifying to a business model that combines economic success with responsibility:
- Revenues exceeding 81 million Euros, demonstrating solid growth.
- 100% of electrical energy from renewable sources, a decade-long commitment to minimal environmental impact.
- Zero workplace injuries, the tangible result of prioritizing people and safety.
- 86% of expenditure allocated to Italian suppliers, a strong support for the national economy and local supply chains, particularly in Emilia-Romagna.
🌱 Quality and Sustainability: The Pillars of Our Supply Chain
Our idea of Quality goes beyond the final product: it is a shared process that begins in the field.
- Controlled and Traceable Supply Chain: We work closely with farmers, defining shared regulations and sustainable cultivation techniques.
- Protection of Biodiversity: We are dedicated to recovering ancient varieties and valuing marginal territories, as shown by exclusive lines like Miracolo®.
- Constant Innovation: With over 130,000 tonnes of cereals processed and over 100 references, our lines (from Professional Flours to the distinctive Kronos® durum wheat semolina, up to innovative organic products like La Pasticceria Bio) are created with the goal of respecting those who cultivate, those who transform, and those who bring the product to the table.
Key Statement: “Quality and sustainability are not goals; they are a way of doing business.” – Massimo, Andrea, and Federica Grassi.
👥 People at the Core
We are convinced that quality originates from people. Our results in terms of safety and well-being prove this:
- Total Safety: The achieved goal of zero injuries is the sign of a respectful and responsible working environment.
- Inclusion and Training: We guarantee 100% of contracts are covered by National Collective Labour Agreements, with a workforce that includes 38% women, constantly promoting training and listening.
- Research: Approximately 20% of staff is dedicated to quality control laboratories, ensuring extremely high standards and collaborating with universities and research centers on regenerative agriculture.
♻️ Environmental Commitment Beyond Energy
Our use of 100% renewable energy is supported by concrete investments to reduce our overall impact:
- Sustainable Technologies: From the automated temperature-controlled warehouse to the open-loop geothermal system for cooling.
- Circular Economy: Milling by-products are reintroduced into livestock and biogas supply chains, reducing waste.
- Responsible Packaging: Use of FSC® certified materials.
The 2024 Sustainability Report is a tool for dialogue with all our stakeholders: farmers, employees, customers, and the community. It reflects the values that have guided us for ninety years: the centrality of people, quality throughout the supply chain, and the construction of relationships based on trust.
